Voice of the Child Report (also known as Views of the Child Report)
Now more than ever, children want to be heard!
This service is a helpful way for children to have a voice in their parent's separation/divorce court proceeding. It provides the parents and court with the child(ren)'s views and preferences in relation to family matters, often promoting settlement negotiations. This service is relatively non-intrusive, and brief (approximately 30 days), and can be court-ordered, or agreed to by the parents.
The process typically involves reviewing relevant documentation, conducting brief interviews with the parents, and conducting detailed interviews with each child over several weeks. The child(ren)’s views and preferences are canvassed about a number of subjects relevant to them and the separation/divorce of their parents. A Views of the Child Report is then completed and provided to the parents and possibly their lawyers and the court.
